Raw Vegan Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes Recipe - 5 Minute Recipe

How's Hump Day treating you?  Has anyone been humping?  I have....

....In the kitch that is.  But before I get to what I whipped up, I wanted to thank you for your appreciative  comments on yesterday's smorgasboard post that spanned everything

From Vegan PB Chex Mix

To Broccoli Salad

To Roasted Sweet Potato Fries

I am really glad you were enjoying my good, albeit a bit random, feast!!!

Today I wanted to hook you up with another Donut Hole Recipe just in time for Halloween and the Fall Season!

You may remember these Raw Vegan Donut Holes

And the Raw Vegan Chocolate Donut Holes...

...but I got into the fall spirit for today's recipe and am presenting you with

Averie's Raw Vegan Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes - 5 minute Recipe
1/2 c Flax Seeds.  Grind well, then add the rest of the ingredients.
2 Tbsp Pumpkin Puree (I used TJ's Organic canned)
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup (or Agave to preserve true raw status)
1 Tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (or a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, clove...your basic fall seasonings)
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil (Note: You may have to go a little over or a little under this amount.  Your batter may appear a little crumbly in the Vita or Food Proc so be careful not to overdo it with the oil or you will suffer a bad case of Sloppy Balls.  TWSS)

Recipe Yields 14 Balls

Here's the Photo-Op Step-by-Step
1/2 c Flax Seeds

Grind them in the DonutHoleMaker or food processor

Add the Pumpkin, Maple, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Coconut Oil

Blend Again.  This is what I was talking about the dough appearing a little crumbly, but this is A-Okay.  You don't want Sloppy Balls or worse, Greasy Ball Syndrome.

Take out and Form into Cute Balls

A Perfect Raw Vegan Pumpkin Spice Donut Hole

If that's not enough for you, here's some
Optional Tweaks:
Double the recipe to share with others.   I like to make dessert recipes that don't make a ridiculous quantity so you're not tempted to eat the whole thing in a sitting!  But also, smaller batches are nice because that way you get to try it, but then move onto something new & different.  I need variety in my dessert life, I tell ya!

Roll in Powdered Sugar
Dip in Maple Syrup
For the coconut fiends, roll in coconut flakes
Roll or dust with cocoa or carob powder for chocolaty pumpkin donut holes
**Or, don't make balls at all.  Make 4 Raw Vegan Pumpkin Spice Pancakes and drizzle with maple syrup, agave, or garnish with fresh fruit.  Yummy fall breakfast!

Or, maybe you don't wanna donut hole.  So just reminding you that the Raw Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls are mighty delish, too!

Blueberry and Cran-Raspberry
What's your on your agenda for the rest of the week?  It seems that everywhere I turn there is another kiddie Halloween party.  Wednesday evening we are going to a Trunk-n-Treat.  Meaning that lots of our neighbors are meeting in a centralized location, decorating their trunks, and are passing out candy.  It's a cool concept because this way the kids don't have to roam the neighborhood or encounter any weirdos along the way...

....But, all that roaming and walking burns off the candy & sugar high!  I remember as a kid going to so many houses the night of Halloween that I would literally fill my first plastic pumpkin full of candy by 7pm and would head out for Trick or Treating Round 2.   I would then come home and sort my loot.  I would organize my candy by how many Snickers Bars, Crunch Bars, Butterfingers, etc. that I got.  I actually preferred organizing it to eating it.  Call me crazy, huh.  What are your favorite Halloween memories?

And Don't Forget to Enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Donut Hole though, ok?

Stay Tuned For A Silly & Roasty Post....

Everything looks so great! :)

We don't celebrate halloween over here so there's nothing like that.

Will you move to Saudi Arabia and become my very awesome and inspirational raw chef? And yoga teacher? PLEASE!?!?! Those pumpkin spice balls sound AMAZING! I have to leave the country to get flaxseeds because they do not exist here and the man at the grocery store kept bringing me pieces of paper instead, so anyway, once I make a daytrip over to Bahrain and restock on the little beauties I will be making these FOR SURE!

That is probably my favorite yoga pose!! I don't think I ever knew its name though, haha. I really need to find a good yoga studio down here, I'm getting rusty, I can feel it.

OK! I've officially found my dish to pass recipe! I mean seriously, what is a halloween party without donuts?

"Ooooo who brought these amazing raw pumpkin donut holes? And these chocolate ones are good too!"

"It was that Alison chick - she's so creative and such a fabulous cook. I just love her."

Thanks in advance for all the amazing compliments I'm gonna get on Friday. ;)

Greasy ball syndrome is the worst ;)
I didn't think it was possible that you would come up with yet another amazing donut hole variation, but you did, and now I want it badly. Now.

I would head out for halloween with a pillow case...it holds more candy! And I was an organizer too. Funny, my hubs is as well so when we gt home with the kids, he and I are organizing their candy, they are just eating it! :)

And referring to your comment on my post. I am glad that I may have helped with your decision re homeschooling. I think it is great if you can do that (I am not sure I have the patience) and whatever you choose will be awesome. I do have to say, all of my other encounters with the school so far has been great so I am hoping that my one negative experience is limited to this substitute teacher.

Kids really should come with an instruction booklet so I can make sure I am not screwing them up too much! :)

Oh man, I loved organizing my candy too (and stickers, and beads, and dolls, and you get the idea.... type A right here) and then getting to trade w/ my brother/friends, that was the best part for sure. It was like sort sort sort and then let's make a deal

I guess it's time to put down the macaroons and give donut holes a try.

sheez!

you're Killing me!

so once a long time ago my mom had me dress up as a scare crow and spook our trick or treaters and a neighborhood kid didn't believe it was me and so he punched me in the stomach to prove it.

oops...14 yo kids can HIT HARD!

I feel like I say this every time but I really DO need to try some of your recipes out. They look fantastic!!

That Chex Mix stuff I used to DOWN by the bag full! Way too good to be true!

I did the same thing you did when I was a kid. I'd run through all the neighborhoods I could, come home and take inventory, give away some of the icky ones and then feast!

What a crazy yoga pose! I wish I had your upper body strength.

My favourite Halloween memory actually doesn't involve candy at all! One year my Dad took me to my Aunt's to trick-or-treat and one of her neighbours was giving out small stuffed animals. I got a lamb that I still have today. So much more meaningful than candy!!

Happy Wednesday ^_^

HOLY YOGA POSE AT THE END! how does one even begin to get in a pose like that? for reals.

Gina said...

have a great day!

Wow! Everything looks delicious, but when does it not? ;)

Favorite Halloween memory?? Hm.. going around dressed up as a Spice Girl thinking I was all that and a bag of chips. I also remember my old dog digging through my candy and getting to it before I did.

p.s. that is one of the yoga poses I really aspire to get down. I don't have much upper body strength but I will get there one day!

For about 8 months out of the year, there is nothing more I love than chocolate, but when pumpkin is around, there's NO CONTEST! Yummmmy pumpkin balls! I think I'll go the pancake route. Thanks for another awesome recipe!

Ok.... pumpkin donut holes look sooooo goood!!! No big halloween plans or memories... have never really been into the whole costume thing or eating lots of candy. :(

Adding you to my bloglist asap! :D

foodfitnessfreshair said...

Wow, I like that yoga pose. I'm about to go give it a try right now!

Diana said...

Read you loud and clear on the trick or treating tendencies. I was a total hoarder, despite the fact that I took home tons of candy each year and could have made myself ill on it. My favorite part of the night was overturning the bag and sorting everything out into little individual baggies. I don't think I ever made it through all that candy before xmas...or staleness.

Emily said...

You make that pose look so easy! Gosh. I can only dream that one day I'll be able to pull that off.

Loving your Balls recipe (you crack me up: "You don't want Sloppy Balls or worse, Greasy Ball Syndrome!")

Halloweens only really starting to become popular over here. We have a few decorations up at our place, but I'll be avoiding the candy since our apartment block isn't really set up for trick or treating and there aren't many kids around. We will however be eating a squash feast!
