Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites

by Averie @ Averie Cooks on January 12, 2012

I have a recipe for actual cookies that is very similar in flavor to these little raw cookie dough bites.

And I love that cookie recipe so much because it combines peanut butter, oatmeal, and chocolate chips all in one cookie so that I don’t have to choose among three favorite kinds of cookies: Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, or Oatmeal Cookies.

It was high time I made cookie dough bites with a similar flavor to those cookies, sans egg, so that I can just eat raw cookie dough at my leisure and not worry about eating raw eggs in raw cookie dough.

And not worry about actually turning on the oven and baking the cookies, either.

Because raw dough is where it’s at for me sometimes.

And these little bites are full of peanut butter cookie dough flavor and incorporate a touch of texture from the oatmeal.

The sweetness from the brown sugar and mini chocolate chips inside the bites is offset by the slight saltiness from the peanut butter.

And everything is better with a melted chocolate drizzle.

If you can’t choose between peanut butter, chocolate chip, or oatmeal cookies, I think these will cure your indecisiveness.

Of all three flavors, oatmeal is the least pronounced; rather the oats are used to help bind the dough so it’s not a sticky, gooey, peanut butter mess.

Peanut butter and chocolate are the dominant flavors in these little bites, which is just fine by me.

I’ve been on a cookie, cookie dough ball, candy and truffle making kick lately.

The Pretzel Peanut Caramel Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Truffles are great if you’re a fan of salty-and-sweet combination desserts.

And there’s White Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cookies if you prefer actually baking your cookies.

There were Ritz Cracker Stuffed Peanut Butter Cups

What’s your favorite kind of cookie?

Chocolate chip, peanut butter, snickerdoodles, ginger, molasses, oatmeal, sugar cookies, or something else?  Do tell.

My baked cookie recipes are here

And I have a post with every single no-bake/raw bite, ball, mini-cookie, or truffle with photos here

Do you prefer raw cookie dough or actually baking the cookies?

There is something so comforting about a warm, gooey cookie with its slightly browned base and top, but raw cookie dough is just so decadent, too.

It depends on my mood but I love them both.

And yes, I’ve eaten my fair share of real raw cookie dough, with raw eggs, and I’ve lived to tell the tale.  Baking with my grandma and mom and licking the bowl and beaters was how I grew up and yes, those ladies cooked with lots of butter, sugar, and eggs.

Oh my word! These are glorious! I have to make them soon!

That is a hard question! Which do I prefer the cookie or the dough…I’m like you and depends on my mood. Usually the cookie warm out of the oven.

I don’t think I could EVER pick a favorite cookie though.

As a raw/vegan chef, the #1 thing raw/vegan food has going for it IMO is all the variations on raw doughs, bites, balls, and raw desserts :)

I agree! Desserts are THE best “gateway” into raw food.

I love raw cookie dough too and I recently read that it’s really not that bad for you, however, the pre-made cookie dough (like the pull and bake ones) can be really dangerous. Apparently when the raw eggs sit with the sugar for that long period of time, they can reproduce and actually pose a health threat.

Oddly, I was never a cookie dough eater – that was my sister’s job. But, I want them straight out of the oven please and thank you ;-)

I’m all about the dough. I would eat raw dough over baked cookies any day. Sometimes the only reason I bake the dough is so that I don’t eat the whole bowl. ;)

I actually just made some mint chocolate chip cookies a couple days ago and only baked about 1/2 the dough. The rest I froze in balls, and I was going to blog about them next week! They were accidently okay to eat raw (i.e. no eggs) only because I was out of eggs when I made them. The dough is much better than the cookies.

Oh don’t you hate then when the dough IS actually better than the cookies, and you bake them and taste them and are like WHY did I just do that and go “ruin” all that great dough by baking it :)

All your food is so yummy looking! When I bake cookies I usually eat so much of the dough that by the time the cookies are baked, I take a bit to test them and then I’m done. Thankfully, I’ve been on a vegan baking kick so don’t need to worry about those eggs.

AMAZING recipe. I can’t wait to make these. I like the raw cookie dough more than cookies. Surprisingly, I like snickerdoodle cookies and pumpkin cookies most even though I’m a fiend for peanut butter!

Raw cookie dough all the way! Although, soft, warm chewy, gooey cookies straight out of the oven give it a run for it’s money ;)
I’m liking this recipe a lot. Definitely bookmarking for a weekend night treat!

i think we have the same taste buds when it comes to desserts… i always love your dessert creations! the peanut butter and chocolate ones get me every time. my favorite cookies are probably freshly baked chocolate chip, especially the ones from Paradise Bakery – have you ever tried to replicate their recipe? i’ve tried, but no such luck. dough vs. baked is a tough one for me. i love them both!

I’m not familiar with those cookies. When I lived in AZ for 9 mos, there was a Paradise Bakery there but I never went to it. Maybe I should have!

Oh my gosh, I’ll take cookies any way I can get them. I’m horrible at standing in the kitchen plopping the cookie dough on the pan to be cooked and eating half of the dough before it even gets to the oven. Eggs or not, it’s in my belly before I can bat an eye!

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/photography is where I discuss all my camera jazz but it’s the Canon 5D Mark II with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. However, food styling and photo composition is more important than camera type or quality; no sense taking really high resolution pictures of food that’s a mess on the plate :) Have to make sure that’s handled in conjunction with the camera type used. I have posts on that too.

Thanks for the compliments!

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/2012/01/peanut-butter-and-jelly-thumbprint-cookies.html

The base of the dough is nearly the same but just a smidge different. You can omit the jelly and just keep them as dough balls. I’d love for you to tell me which “dough” base you prefer since you love your PB as much as I do…in time, of course, if you get around to it one day!
